: So tell me how you got started with Social Kink.

: I work for a company called AEBN. At first, I was in the Traffic Department, and then I moved to Project Management, since I'm a bit of a closet nerd. Once the concept of Social Kink came up, they thought of me to be a part of the project management for the site and then to eventually become webmistress, since they knew that I was already part of the fetish lifestyle. It just made sense on both a personal and professional level. I figure if you love something, it will really reflect in your work.

: I definitely agree with that. What was your vision for Social Kink when you started and how has that changed as you've grow along?

: The fetish and kink world is small, yet very fragmented, online. You go to one site for one bit of info, and another site to learn something else, and yet another site to meet the folks in the lifestyle. That or you pay for membership to a personals site, and even then the people there are not as varied (since many in the lifestyle simply choose not to pay for memberships). We wanted to bring everyone together in one place. That way, you only have to worry about logging in on one site to meet people, learn new techniques, swap scenes, talk about events, plan munches, and even shop for toys or watch videos.

It was a simple concept, really. The world's largest fetish lounge, right on one site.

: Yes, it does seem like all the profile sites (Adult Friend Finder and such) are hard to navigate and costly.

: We really just wanted a site that wouldn't intimidate users from finding what they are looking for. We have built in a searchable interest list, so that you can find people that match your kink. Our Gateway also makes searching for people very painless, this is where submissives can find Dominants, shows can find performers, models can find photographers. We even have a business directory for kink-friends goods and services...it's all right there for you.

: Do you have concerns about the legality of Domination and how you've mixed it in with other professions? It's a very progressive approach...

: The legality of Domination can get a little tricky, but see we are in the lifestyle, we know what goes on. I'd rather create a safe place where a new submissive can find the Dominant he needs and know that the person he is talking to is who she says she is. How the two of them conduct business once they meet is between those two individuals. It's the same way when photographers use the site to find models for erotic photos, both are assured of each others' identity yet they simply take care of business offline. It's out there, it happens, we just want to give people a safe place to take part in it if they choose to.

: What do you make of all these offshoots of myspace that are happening right now? MyDommeSpace, etc.? Do you think they cover enough ground or are they too niche specific?

: Well, yes, I think that each one was created to serve its specific niche. One of the major issues we faced when creating Social Kink was how to NOT be niche-specific. It's really easy to become pigeon-holed, especially in this particular scene at times. We figured we would take the best of the best for everyone and then create our own new things so that there is something there for everyone.

Luckily, our people who work here are really into this stuff and were able to provide a lot of insight so as to not leave anything out. One of our team members is actually a title holder in the Leather Community, as SELF Boot Black 2007. Another member is a well respected Electo-play top who travels and conducts demos. We just try to make sure that everyone can find their place here, you know.

: What were you looking for in each person, when you built your team?

: ::giggles:: I wasn't looking for anything, actually. We all worked together and were already friends long before we worked in the same company, it was just very organic. I have to tell you, I count myself very lucky with friends like these!

: What about you? Give me the sexy details! What got you into the "scene"? And where is that scene, cause I've been looking for it everywhere.

: LMAO! Ah, the meat of the interview!!

: Well, first the scene...I live in Charlotte NC, right smack in the middle of the Bible Belt. Oddly enough, this is also headquarters to the largest VOD company in the world...and also the second largest fetish show in the South East.

While I was in college in USC (Columbia, SC...or South Kakalaky, as it is also lovingly called), I would go to these local Goth nights. From there, I kept hearing about this bi-monthly event called Purgatory that was held in Charlotte NC. I had never been, but it intrigued me and so I decided to check it out.

I am a photographer and while I was at the event, I noticed that there was a lack of that, so I asked the promoter of the event if I could get on staff and do photos. From there it was a love, and I was in Charlotte every weekend!!! Eventually, I moved here to be closer.

I was active in the lifestyle before Purgatory, but I was very closeted. Once I saw so many others "just like me" I came out of the closet so to speak!

I started out doing erotic photos, I just had a thing for pretty girls, it seemed. But there was more to me than that, even my best friend wasn't entirely privy to that side of me. I loved ropes since I was young. I was the only girl allowed in the boys-only fort because I was stronger and faster than most girls, but mainly because I was awesome at "cowboys and indians" and could securely tie a guy to a tree the best! While in college a met my first submissive and the rest is history.

: Do you think there's a correlation between living in BibleLand and loving S&M?

: OH! That's a great question. There's got to be. I will only speak for myself...while I was young, I went to church and bible camp and all that good stuff. But I never understood it or felt a part of it. I always thought that one day my preacher would say "you are all god's children and are going to heaven, 'cept you" and point at me.
 
Also, I got my first girl-crush at church camp and that sorta scarred me a little. As far as a correlation between bibleland and S&M...strict discipline, lots of rules, vengeful god...yeah, I can see that!

: Yes, it's a clean transition.

Who do you like right now? What are you looking at/talking about/sweating over?

: I love everyone on the site right now, we're like a happy family. Mainly I am all over Catalina Loves, who has a very active blog on the site. I actually met up with her the other day and we arranged for her to be featured in my monthly blog called Bondage Babe of the Month for December (its her birthday month).

Also, Perry Mann is on board as well, and he's the guy putting on the Exotic Erotic Ball. It really is a small world, here we are chatting on the site and next thing you know we're sponsoring and attending the event!

: I hear that. So what are you playing with right now? Do you have new toys or techniques you're experimenting with?

: Shibari is sort of a huge passion of mine!!! I usually am the one doing the tying, but I was actually a bottom for Twisted Monk while I was at the Folsom Street Fair! As far as new toys go, it's more like learning how to rig the toys I have now (like the-oh-so-nice Magic Wand) into position while a girl is bound and gagged.
